Can you say...anticipation?

Getting ready for the Biggest Week in American Birding!
In only a few days I'll head up to Toledo for the Biggest Week in American Birding where slews of migrating warblers will be flitting, darting, singing, foraging, perching, and dripping from the branches along the Magee Marsh boardwalk...

American Redstart at Magee Marsh

American Redstart from behind!

...fiery orange among the branches.
American Redstarts stand out because of the strong contrast of black and orange in their feathers.

An American Redstart almost matches the orange fungi growing on the branch.

I will be blogging about the Biggest Week over the next few weeks. The birds, the people, the events...everything about the Biggest Week is amazing!

Enjoy your trip Kelly ... maybe next year I might fly over to sample some Magee Magic!!

It always sounds like so much fun.
Unfortunately, it also comes at my busiest time of year. Hope you take LOTS of photos to share with us.
Have a fun weekend, Kelly!

Hi Kelly - haven't seen you in forever! Love that Redstart.

@ Frank - You need to cross the pond and see Magee. You will love the concentration of warblers (and the people are really nice too!).

@ Sue - I will, Sue. I know...this is a busy time for you!

@ Roy - Thanks, Roy. There was a fall-out of redstarts when I was there. So many, I heard someone say, "Oh...just another Redstart. I've seen over 100 today." You know you're in a special place when you can say, "just another redstart!" :-)

@ Lois - Thanks, Lois. I hope to get a lot!

@ Mona - I know.....I've been writing another chapter for the book I'll use for the field sketching class. The book arrived last week, and I'm busy packing up the sketching kits with it! I should be back to regular blogging now. Thank!

I will look forward to your posts. I have never seen a Redstart--how gorgeous! I was thinking it was about time to see some Baltimore Orioles and put out some oranges today.
