...continued from the Captiva Island posts.
I heard Prairie Warblers singing throughout the park every time I visited the Ding Darling NWR this March, but they especially seemed to like the shrubby habitat and mangroves that bordered the Indigo Trail about a quarter mile down the crushed seashell path. This fellow was singing his heart out, and he came so close too...A Prairie Warbler sings heartily in a mangrove tree on the Indigo Trail...
The crushed seashell path along the Indigo Trail in the Ding Darling NWR.
The shrubby habitat and mangrove trees that border the Indigo Trail were a favorite of the Prairie Warblers I saw there. (Just a touch different than the cedar barrens and scrubby fields they like in Ohio.)

....Dave...it was sooooo warm and wonderful. It was the best week. Getting away from the Cincy winter was fab. Those Floridians are so lucky!!
Betsy...you are so right. He was singing nonstop from tree to tree. Loved listening to him!
Those are really great photos of that colorful little bird. It's great to be able to see that amount of detail.
These are fantastic captures of a beautiful bird. It is not a bird I've seen.
Wow, another beautiful series. Your work is marvelous.
Oh Kelly, this warbler is just stunning and your photographs are beautiful. He certainly appears to be basking in the spring warmth.

I love this. A beautiful bird and all those sharp and great hots. What an experience. :)
So beautiful. Reminds me of the yellow finches at my bird feeder. Carol
I haven't seen anything, I'm closing my eyes and refuse to see all the sun and fantastic images you got... Na!!! Joke, This is incredible to see this nice yellow-yellowish warbler in such a nice light! You got really nice shots of it... Well done!
WOW! Wow, wow, wow.
How lovely it is to come to your blog and see birds I've never heard of let alone seen!
He's beautiful Kelly - your photos are so wonderful!
FABulous. (I'm lost for words for once!!)
...thanks everyone for the kind words! This little fellow was incredible. At one point, he actually tried to land on my hat! He liked the clicking sounds my camera was making I guess. Soon after he started getting really close...a few bicyclists came storming by talking really loudly and scared my little friend away. It was really hard to keep a smile on my face, but I did...they didn't know a sweet little bird was showing off for me!!
Wow! Lots of good pics of the Prairie Warbler. They remain one of my favorite birds.
Gorgeous photos Kelly. Nice to see the different birds in the (more or less) same pose.
Truly fabulous pics of the Prairie warbler. Amazing clarity! Bravo
