Carolina Wren blinking snowflakes out of his eye...

...this little Carolina Wren stopped eating the suet for a while and started watching the snowflakes falling. I don't think he was keen on them, though, because he kept blinking them out of his eyes--such a cute fella! (...from the snow last weekend)

...just a few closeups of the bar pattern on a Carolina Wren's wings:

With beautiful carmel coloring and a striking pattern of dark bars on his wings, the Carolina Wren is such a pretty bird!

They are such a cute and pert little bird. I haven't seen a Wren around our yard in several years.

they're just beautiful.

Thanks for pointing out the bar pattern on the wings. Is that as unusual as I think it is? I can't picture another bird with anything like it--reminds me of hawks for some reason.

I adore wrens. What a great video and photos. This winter has been so bad for all the birds. So cold.

They are such pretty and photogenic little birds...I just love watching them..

I watched them build a nest one year in one of my flower boxes. What hard workers!

So sweet. I've never seen one of those here in Bluff Country though house wrens are very common...:)

just always love looking at your photos of the birds. Birds amaze me too. A friend recently asked me how to attract cardinals to his yard . He has tried the black sunflower seed and suet and he still never gets any around. He is wanting to know some secret trick but I do not know of one. we just have a lot of them around my yard. He lives in Wisconsin (southern) any tricks up your sleeve to attract cardinals
?

Thanks, everyone!! He is a cutie, isn't he?

Banjo...definitely reminds me of hawks too. They have wonderful banding on their tails.

Hi Charlotte! Welcome to the blog! Nice to meet you too:-)

Kit...in my yard, cardinals come to all of my platform feeders. They don't bother with tube feeders, so see if he has hopper feeders or platform feeders. Black oil seeds and peanuts are favorites in my yard.

Its amazing to think that a small bird like a Wren can exist in that weather Kelly.
