Happy Father's Day!

It looks like this little guy is shouting
"Happy Father's Day!" to all of his friends.

I saw this bird in Ohio, but I could not positively ID him. I couldn't see a white eyebrow stripe of a Marsh Wren or even hear his song. I just had an impression of a silhouette against the sky for a brief second and quickly sketched it out.

There's just no end to your talents! Great sketch.

Good sketch! By the beak and the tail I'd say it was some kind of Wren.

Hi Kelly - I just went back to read the comment you left me regarding your camera/lens. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me. Your photography is so beautiful. I use the Canon EOS40D with the Canon 100-400 IS lens, but find it a little slow: It hunts. I did drop it a year ago, and had it repaired, the photos are passable, but not as sharp as I'd like them to be.

Great sketch - I would say it is classic "Kelly".

Such talents, Kell my friend... I couldn't draw or sketch my way out of a paper bag. I'm SO impressed...

Happy Father's Day to you and your family.
Hugs,
Betsy

Very artist, glad you had a wonderful vacation, great pictures, dear Kelly, timing, colors and the flowers, pure poetry. Congrats, hugs to all.

Hi Kelly, Yep, talent and joy.
You can see it in every line.
I'm dropping hints that I want a new camera for my birthday coming up. What kind is yours? I think you told me once, but I can't find it. I've been looking, but I have to give my husband a note with all the pertinent information or it might not happen.
That would make a great father's day card. My husband, Duncan, always says the day after Father's day, is Step Father's day, so for them too.
Your posts are always a bright spot in my day.

Gabrielle...thank you. I'm going to try to do more. I did this guy in under a minute...he's not the best, but I he really does look happy like he's shouting out a message, so I used him.

Mona....thank you very much. It's just a quick field sketch...

Roy...it's probably a Sedge Wren, but I couldn't ID it because I saw none of the field marks...just that brief silhouette that inspired me!

Mona....I wish I had a 100-400 mm lens!! This lens is really nice. I like it a lot even though it's not as powerful...

Roy...thank you very much! I hope I can get back to more art. I think I want to try some pen and inks with watercolor...

Betsy...thank you very much.....hope you and George had a wonderful Father's Day! I loved your Father's Day post...

Sue...thank you. It's just a quick sketch. I need to put some effort into a drawing. I hope to have more and more time to sketch...

Tammie Lee....thank you very much!

Keith...haha! Thank you.....

Warren....everyone agrees. Now, which wren. My guess is Sedge Wren from the location and time of year, but couldn't see the field marks so....doesn't count.

Steve....exactly my thoughs.... :-) Thank you!

Richard.....it is definitely drawn in black and white!! :-)

Adrienne...thank you. I don't know that I have that much talent, but I do enjoy it, and when the camera can't capture something....a pencil and pen can!

Enita....thank you.....you and Tommy have to head down. You would love photographing these birds....hugs...

Linda...thank you so much....you are so sweet!! A new camera is so much fun. I just told Mona what I had, let me copy it here:

I use Rick's camera (which basically has become mine). Before I started blogging Rick took a lot of bird photos for me. Now I take them all... It's a Nikon D700. I have a Nikon AF-S VR-Nikkor 70-200mm 2.5G lens. I also use a Nikon 2x teleconverter. When something is really far away, I always use a monopod and then crop the heck out of it in Aperture (I'm a Mac person). The lens is nice because it has Vibration reduction, which makes the crops acceptable. That's why I don't have the sharpness of photos taken with a reall 400mm lens. On of these days.....

This one is very sweet. I wish you would share more of your sketches (if you feel comfortable doing so) - I love seeing the renderings that come from your hand and your mind's eye.
