Today the temp hit 56, a far cry from the weather the past couple of weeks, and with the warmer temps, the big melt. As I was writing this, a huge slab of snow and ice started sliding off the roof. Such a sound! The scraping and sliding started slowly and then picked up speed, scaring me for a split second until I realized what it was. I hope the gutter didn’t get knocked off and a few shingles dragged with it. I think it’s supposed to be warm again tomorrow, a nice surprise for early February!
Just a few days ago Squirrel Nutkin was playing
in the snow on my deck, scrounging out peanuts
and looking incredibly cute. He was watching
me intently as I sat on the floor in the kitchen
snapping photographs of him right and left.
I love all the little snow flakes on Nutkin! Squirrels do look so cute when they eat!
ReplyDelete...I think so too...thanks Shelley!
ReplyDeleteNutkin is so cute!! I think nature made squirrels that way so they can get away with all of their antics.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you had warmer temps. We had some of that here too today but it isn't expected to last long.
Isn't the warmth welcome!
ReplyDelete...very much so. I hope to get out tomorrow to our Great Blue Heron rookery and see if there is any action. If it's warm, it will be so much nicer.
ReplyDeleteKallen, I think you're right. They get away with a lot because they're so cute!
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly! LOVE the images - excellent detail and texture!!! Thanks for the enjoyable education! I'm glad I found you AND I will be back!!! Keep shooting that camera!

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteWooowwwwww, this little guy is so cute and the picture is wonderful... A very nice atmosphere with the snow and a very nice attitude... Funny he was posing for you... Congrats a picture I would like to get in my box!!!
I'm glad you guys are finally thawing out! Minnesota is still above freezing too, so more warm temps still coming your way.
ReplyDeleteHi Jerry! Thanks for stopping by! I dropped by your blog...nice photos!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Steve! Today hit 51 here. It was nice. I loved it.
Hi Chris! Are there squirrels in Iceland? I've heard they didn't make it that far...
Hi Ruthie! That's good to hear (it was beautiful today), but I do have to admit I have LOVED all the snow and ice this January and early Feb. It is the perfect backdrop to the birds and drove so many to my feeders.
Cracking shot!
ReplyDeletePaul.
A little cutie. So much greyer than ours.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul and Nick!
